Help Murray raise money

For participating in Raymond James Father's Day Walk Run for Prostate Cancer

My Story…

Most people think of prostate cancer as an old man’s disease. I did. Until I got diagnosed with it in my 50s. At the time I was a marathon runner with a 10,000 km a year cycling habit. Needless to say, I still considered myself young and looked forward to many more decades of adventure. But suddenly my doctors were talking about ten years being a good outcome. How could someone as healthy and active as I was be dead before turning 70? Our first stop after receiving the diagnosis of prostate cancer was the nurse navigator at Island Prostate Centre. She talked with us about our options and helped us with our questions. Every year, there are about 800 new cases of prostate cancer on Vancouver Island alone. Every year, 800 local men hear those dreaded words, “You have cancer.” Despite COVID-19, this year will be no exception. And the men who are facing that diagnosis still need someone to talk to…just as we did. Please donate so the IPC can be there for the next 800 men.
