Race Across Waterloo Region is not a purist wilderness adventure race, rather an introduction to adventure racing with a primary intent to build community through adventure-sport.
About Waterloo Region Crossing:
Waterloo Region Crossing Inc is a not-for-profit endurance events organization. We coordinate events that raise awareness about local issues, and to raise funds for organizations who address those local issues.

Why We #RAWRforSASC:
Early in 2019, the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives released a report ranking the best and worst places to be a woman in Canada. 26 metropolitan areas were studied. In the category of women's safety, Waterloo Region ranked dead last.
Shortly thereafter, The Record released an article about the state of crisis at the Sexual Assault Support Centre of Waterloo Region (SASC). For the first time in 30 years, their wait list had topped 200 survivors. More info here: https://vimeo.com/376836981?fbclid=IwAR3mxmzgX52qimqEPwC9W6HhyzwkV4sHqwEXzEkIKkpPSPqxTtzS8f0xTPw
No one in a state of crisis should have to languish on a wait list, so we reached out to SASC and collaboratively built an event that raises awareness about the state of women's safety in our community, raises funds to provide counselling services for survivors of sexual trauma, and creates a community of support and empowerment through adventure sport.
About RAWR!:
Race Across Waterloo Region (RAWR!) is a multi-sport adventure race. There are three different distance options, and competitors travel through their chosen course on foot, on bike, and on the water. The event has competitive and non-competitive options. For non-competitive participants, it's about the journey, the community, and the camaraderie. You should expect to push yourself and your team-mates to do your best, but the primary goal is to have a wonderful adventure together.
In the spirit of adventure racing, the race course is kept a secret until right before the event!
THE SUMAC COURSE: 2-4 hours long, non-competitive, integrates trekking/running, biking, and floatie. Teams can be any size, any genders. Pricing is per person.
THE CEDAR COURSE: 6-8 hours, non-competitive, integrates trekking/running, biking, and floatie. Teams can be any size, any genders. Pricing is per person
