Our Cause
Two separate organizations coming together for a common purpose...
IMANI ORPHAN CARE
Imani Orphan Care is a Canadian non-profit organization that supports children and families in need in Kenya. These precious children that Imani Orphan Care helps to support were abandoned by their families, orphaned, or rescued from the streets and from unhealthy situations. Imani Orphan Care supports these kids with donations and sponsorship to help pay for their food, education, healthcare, and spiritual instruction.
DOING FAMILY RIGHT
DFR is uniquely equipped to encourage marriages and give parents tools they need to pass on their faith and values to their children. DFR was started by our president and director Dr. Dave Currie, who has been a pastor and counselor for over 35 years. His heart and passion are to see lives and marriages changed for God’s glory.
Fundraising
Each player’s goal is to blow past the minimum of $300/player raised. We ask that you be willing to donate $200 yourself in order to best support our ministries. In the past individual players have raised as much as $8,100!! Remember all funds go to Imani Orphan Care and Doing Family Right…the more funds you raise, the more we can help these two foundations!

Frequently Asked Questions
- Why is there not a hockey marathon this year?
Due to COVID-19 there are various restrictions that have been set in place preventing an event or gathering like our marathon. Out of respect for our marathoners we felt that it was best to be safe and take a break for this year. We understand that there are varying opinions on this season of life but our Committee made the best decision they could at the time the decision had to be made. - Will there be a Hockey Marathon again next year?
YES! That is our plan. This event is committed to our Hockey Marathon. The Golf Tournament is a one year event that we are running due to COVID-19 our inability to run the Hockey Marathon this year.
- Can I play on the same team as a friend?
Totally! You are allowed to request up to 4 friends to play together. During Registration let us know if there is anyone in particular you would like to play with and we will do our best to accommodate you. - Is there an age limit?
No! - Do we keep score?
Yes. This will be a best ball tournament. Each group will need to use shots by each player in the foursome. - Are there prizes?
Yes. Prizes are awarded for the top 7 fundraisers! That’s why we do the event. Beyond that, golf prizes are awarded for longest drive, closest to the pin, putting competition. Some of the prizes in the past have included NHL jerseys, hockey tickets, sticks, videos and paintings. However, this year may have some more golf related items. - Where does the money raised in the marathon go?
The money raised in the marathon will go toward the valuable work of Doing Family Right and Imani Orphan Care….two local organizations that are focused on bringing HOPE to families and kids. All sponsors of the marathon will be issued a tax receipt for donations of $50 or more from our parent organization: The Great Commission Foundation. - Do I have to raise $300?
Since we ask that you tp pay a $200 registration fee yourself, you do not have to fundraise the $300 however if you do you will be entered into the draws for some pretty amazing prizes (iPad's, Airpods, TV's etc Have been given away in the past). Furthermore, if you raise over $300 you will be given the option of getting your $200 registration fee back!
