My Story…
In a sense I was "lucky": Within a week of seeing my GP and a neurologist about a tremor, I was diagnosed with cervical dystonia. Like many, I had never heard of this condition and was faced with a journey through uncharted territory. During the last 15 years since receiving the diagnosis, I have learned - and continue to learn - much about available medical treatments and how to cope with the pain and fatigue; however, I'm still working towards becoming less self-conscious! On the upside, I have met many patients and their families and have gained a lot of empathy for those who weren't diagnosed for YEARS because their physicians weren't familiar with the symptoms of dystonia. So I am doing my part to help the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation build more awareness about dystonia. And you too can help! Our support is key to funding research towards a cure. Thank you for contributing to a very important cause!
