The Ride 'N Tie is a 2 person, one bike,
alternating race
The 2020 Ride N' Tie has been Cancelled! Unfortunately the site is only allowing 50 people to gather. As much as it hurts - we will not be offering the race this year. We'll be back bigger and better in 2021. Thanks for the support... See you in 2021!
The fun with the Ride N' Tie is 2 people alternating between running and biking throughout the 5 or 10 mile course. There are 2 mandatory switches for the 10 mile (approximately mile 3 and 7) and 1 mandatory switch for the 5 mile (approximately mile 2). The course covers a 10 mile (long course) or 5 mile (short course) route through Busse Woods Forest Preserve. The course is on paved (but sometimes icy and snowy) trails. Bikes with tires wider than 1 1/2" are allowed and helmets are suggested. Participants must be over 14 years of age to participate. Field limited to 175 teams.

Rules
The Ride N’ Tie is a 2 person, one bike alternating race. The rider and runner alternate their positions throughout the race. Below are simple rules to review prior to the event.
- Bike tires must be 1 ½ “ or larger. Bike tire checks will be done prior to the race. Any smaller tire size team will be ineligible for awards.
- Mandatory switches (one at approximately mile 2 for 5 mile course, and two at approximately mile 3 and 7.5 for 10 mile course) will be at the turnaround. If the runner is ahead of the biker – the runner will have to wait for the biker to come to the switch area.
- The course is paved with the possibility of some ice/snow patches based on the weather. Race crew will do their best to salt icy patches prior to the event.
- Helmets are suggested and recommended.
- Participants must be over 14 years of age.
- Age divisions are based on the total age of the team.
- Bikes dropped along the course should be done on the RIGHT side and not cross the path against traffic.
- Each team will receive a bike number, 2 race bibs, and 2 bike helmet numbers. It is suggested to decorate your bike so that it’s easy to spot during the race.
- There is no water on the course, and suggested to bring a water bottle for your bike.
- The bike starts prior to the run by 1 minutes. The official time is the run start time.
- Teams must cross the finish line together. There is a waiting area prior to the finish line chute to wait for your partner.
- Awards will be given out after the last team has finished.
- Awards will be given out to the Overall Male, Female, and Co-ed Teams and first place age group teams
- Those not present for awards can pick them up at Runner’s High N’ Tri in Arlington Heights.
