Miles for Migraine - Patient Education Day
In a continued effort to create awareness about migraine and headache disease, we are holding our first annual
Miles for Migraine Education Day: Creating community and sharing knowledge for people with migraine and other headache disorders, and for their families and loved ones.
THIS WILL BE A VIRTUAL EVENT TO BE HELD ON
SATURDAY, DECEMBER 5TH FROM 10:00AM - 11:00AM MOUNTAIN TIME
The day will be both informational and experiential. Our goal is for the person with chronic migraine and other headache disease to both learn and be supported. Topics will cover coping strategies, advocacy, reducing stigma, research, and medical advancements. There will be time to join with others in a supportive and safe community.
We have invited local doctors and other providers to give lectures and provide opportunity for open dialogue and experiential participation so that the day is not confined to only lectured information.
Lindsay Weitxel, PhD: Dr. Lindsay Weitzel experienced chronic daily migraine from the time she was four years old until she was thirty. Her constant migraine attacks caused enough damage to give her complex regional pain syndrome (a ceaseless pain like burning fire) down the right side of her face, head, neck, and arm. Lindsay believes that having no memory without daily pain gave her a unique perspective on living with and fighting off her disease. Lindsay has a PhD in Analytical Health Sciences and a Master’s degree in Nutrition. She works full-time as a Migraine Strategist and has opened a clinic in Denver dedicated to improving the lives of people with chronic migraine. Lindsay is the host for Heads UP: The Weekly Webcast/Podcast of the National Headache Foundation. Lindsay works as a Migraine Medical Writer, and is the author of a graphic novel for kids and adventurous adults with migraine called Super Zoe the Migraine Hero (available on Amazon).
People affected by migraine and those who care for them can find her work and education materials in her closed FaceBook support/education group called MigraineNation, Headquarters For Those With Chronic Migraine. Join MigraineNation at (https://www.facebook.com/groups/migrainenation/)
for social support and the latest migraine-related news and treatments. You can also see more about Lindsay on FaceBook (https://www.facebook.com/LindsayWeitzelPhD/) or contact her through her webpage (www.LindsayWeitzel.com).
