DogRunnin is back on the trails in Halifax, NS this winter/spring and has partnered with Club DogRunnin (the local MAHDS club in the Halifax area) to bring you more opportunities to learn all about harness dog sports! With two great options, there's sure to be something for everyone!
This course will cover the commands and techniques required for canicross and is transferable to harness dog sports generally. Canicross is the sport of cross country or trail running with the assistance of a canine teammate. We'll teach you the basics on the ground from a canicross perspective and from there, you can build on those skills running, hiking, biking, skiing, sledding, etc! Specifically, you and your dog will learn how to start and stop and how to speed up or slow down. We'll also cover how to safely pass others without engaging, anticipate and avoid distractions, navigate directions and discern how to read your dogs body language. PLUS we'll go over best practices for safety while running together, mileage building, and some canine training plan basics. Most importantly, you'll learn what it takes to start building a real partnership with your dog, so you can become the best teammates you can be!

This package includes 2 classes (intro & follow-up), weekly homework, exclusive access to online mentorship, plus the registration fee for your first canicross event!

Safety - Age & Gear Requirements
Dogs must be at least 10 months of age & outfitted with a properly fitted running harness.
Humans must be equipped with a hands-free leash or canicross belt & line.
Loaner gear is available upon request! Just let us know that you need gear in your registration!
