Let's kick Coronavirus butt by helping people on the front lines. Register for the COVID-19 Miler Virtual Run/Walk to help raise money for well needed PPE's for our healthcare workers.
Studies have shown that this stay at home order has increased peoples activity levels by 88%...yahoo! Some of you have been doing fitness and running challenges already. Let's put your hard work and dedication to use and culminate the end of our current lockdown with an event for a great cause.
Simply Run/Walk 19 miles in the week of April 27-May 3rd. You can run/walk these miles every day (2.7 miles a day), take a few days to do it, OR if you are really crazy, do it all on one day! Since this is a virtual event, we will go on the honor system but we've created a Facebook Group (COVID-19 Miler Virtual Run/Walk) for you to post your run or photo of your accomplishment as proof. This will be a great place to get creative using the number 19 or sending words of encouragement to others in the group. Show us your 19! #RunnersTogether #runningforPPE #lightitblue
All participants will receive a softstyle unisex COVID-19 Miler shirt. We will also give away random prizes to registrants and the best photo on our Facebook Group page.
Proceeds will go to CLTgivePPE (https://www.cltgiveppe.org), a 100% volunteer based Charlotte grassroots movement to address the massive shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE) in the Charlotte healthcare system by acquiring and distributing PPE as needed for the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Who can enter the event?
The short answer...EVERYONE. This is a perfect event to do with your family, your kids, or by yourself. Heck, sign yourself up and make the kids do portions of it with you. You can live anywhere in the USA to participate.
What do I get?
Well, besides you contributing to a good cause all registrants will receive a shirt and a bib. In addition, we will give random prizes for participants upon registration and the best photo on our Facebook Group page. If you are registrant #19, #119, #219, and so on, you get a prize. Prizes include hoodies, technical t-shirts, shoe bags, etc. Best photo prize will be a combination of all of the prizes! Let's do this and have some fun!
How do I complete the 19 miles?
We don't care if you run, walk, bunny hop, dance, or even bike the 19 miles. You can complete these miles inside your house, outside, or a combination. You can do these miles every day (2.7 miles a day), take a few days to do it, OR if you are really crazy, do it all on one day!
Is there a start date?
Yes. The event will start the week we are supposed to be done with our stay at home order...April 27th and will finish on May 3rd.
How do I show evidence of my 19 miles?
We are relying on the honor system for completion but we are encouraging you to show your evidence (photo of your distance on your watch, treadmill, or fitness app, photo of you running/walking, etc.)
Here are a few ways you can track and prove your accomplishment;
1. Join our Covid 19 Miler Facebook Group - Here you can upload photos of your activity and also interact with others who are doing the same event.
2. Join Strava - Upload your results, share on social media

4. Email your evidence to email@example.com
4. Submit nothing.
How does the charity component work?
Proceeds from this event will go to CLTgivePPE. They are actually helping provide PPE beyond Charlotte, NC. If you want to raise additional money for them you can become a fundraiser too.
When will my shirt and any other swag you come up with be mailed to me?
Our fulfillment company will start mailing out your swag the week after the event concludes. Please allow a couple of weeks for them to get everything shipped.
