2020 Virtual E.J. Goldsmith Memorial Road Race Series
Presented by the Memphis Runners Track Club
***********************************************************************
We sure do miss your faces, but until the authorities give us the go-ahead to return to business as usual we will move forward with our Road Race Series virtually! Of course, this will look a lot different from what it normally does, but we just couldn't fathom cancelling after 37 years of the series. We encourage you to challenge yourself and keep on running during these trying and strange times. And as always - we THANK YOU for your support of Memphis Runners Track Club.
As usual, the Road Race Series will consist of TWO races of each of the following distances:
- 5k - July 12th and July 26th
- 5 Miler - August 9th and August 23rd
- 10k - September 13th and September 27th
- 10 Miler - October 11th and October 25th
- Half Marathon* - November 8th and November 21st
Run all ten races and you'll be awarded a trophy for being a ROAD WARRIOR!! For Mini-Series registrants, trophies will go to those who run the first six races. Please note that we will not be giving out items for Finishers as we have in the past (one of each distance or six total races). We will also not give awards for the series this year, but we will still be posting results so you can see how you rank amongst your fellow runners.
*For our final race of the series, the 2nd Half Marathon, we will combine forces with The Big River Crossing Half Marathon. This means that when you sign up for the full Road Race Series you are also automatically signed up for the Big River Crossing Half Marathon. You do not need to register for that race separately and it will count as your second half marathon of the series. The Big River Crossing Half is going forward as a live event. However, we understand that not everyone is comfortable returning to a live and in-person event yet and so we are allowing virtual race submissions for the final race. It will still count as your second half marathon and go toward your Road Warrior status. This is also the case for participants who are not local and able to run a race in Memphis.
MRTC is proud to partner with the beneficiary of this race, the Peer Power Foundation. Peer Power's mission is to empower and inspire scholars through their innovative student-to-student tutoring program. Peer Power is active in schools throughout Memphis, serving more than 1,000 students every year. Since its inception in 2005, the program has resulted in significant increases in test scores, scholarship awards, and graduation rates for students involved in the program.
Here's how it works...

Run or walk each race! You may complete the distance anywhere you like and will have 2 weeks prior to each official race date to do so. For example, you can run and submit your time for the 1st 5k starting June 29th up until midnight on July 12th (date of the 1st 5k). After that you will have two weeks to submit your time for the 2nd 5k. Keep it going just like that all the way until the end! | |
Submit your time for each race. You can attempt each race distance multiple times in the 2 week submission period. Each time you submit a result to Race Roster it will update your previous submission. |
