The Brain Injury Network of Dallas (BIND)

Brain injury can happen to anyone.  We take the ability to communicate with others for granted - it would be distressing if you couldn't tell someone that you love them.  This is the reality for thousands living with the long-term effects of brain injury.

In Texas, 500,000 residents live every day with a disability caused by traumatic brain injury and just 5% receive all the services they need. Forty percent of the 280,000 Americans hospitalized annually with traumatic brain injury have at least one unmet need for services a year after their injury – long after their insurance coverage for rehabilitation has ended.  BIND’s services for adult survivors of acquired brain injury join the gap between medical rehabilitation and independent, contributing community living. Our mission is to provide tools and a bridge of support for adult brain injury survivors so they can reconnect into life, the community and the workplace.

At BIND members, not 'patients' are survivors of stroke, traumatic brain injury or brain cancer. BIND opened the first Texas-based Brain Injury Clubhouse in February 2015 to 8 members and is currently serving more than 70 members five days a week in 2020.
