A New England summer racing tradition will continue! The 57th Annual 5.5 Mile Fred Warren Road Race hosted by Central Mass Striders will be held virtually the last week of July. Runners will select a 5.5 miles on a course of their choice anytime between July 25th and July 31st and submit their times to Race Roster.
The best part of the 57th Annual 5.5 Mile Fred Warren Road Race NOW VIRTUAL is that you get to choose the course and the time of day that you run. You can design a course that skips the killer hills on Bailey Road and Route 31 or challenge yourself with even more elevation. Depending on the weather that week, you may even be able to avoid heat and humidity. The only requirement is that your run is the traditional 5.5 mile length that the course has been for the past 56 years.
Per current social distancing guidelines, please do not plan to run the traditional race route in Holden on the original date and time of the race--July 26th at 6 PM or as part of a group.
The first 100 registered runners will receive a special edition 57th Annual 5.5 Mile Road Race NOW VIRTUAL neck buff mailed to their home.
We will offer prizes in the following categories:
- Most elevation gain
- Most creative running costume
- Most vintage Fred Warren Road Race t-shirt worn
- Best dog photo
- Most people tagged in Facebook post
Please use #fredwarrenvirtual in social media posts to be considered for prizes.
There will also be awards for the fastest male and female runners.
