Cure the Boys Run for ALD

Run for ALD, Cure the Boys is a 5K/1 mile run/walk homegrown event, the only one of its kind in the St. Louis area that raises awareness and funds for adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD). ALD is a very progressive disease that affects about 1 in 17,000 boys, many of whom suffer severe neurological symptoms that often result in death if undiagnosed and not treated very early. Our event is inspired by the vision of our son Nicholas who had a successful bone marrow transplant (the only current treatment) to halt the progression of his cerebral ALD at the University of Minnesota Children's Hospital (a world leader in transplants and ALD research) in 2016. ALD is considered a rare disease so there are very limited grant funds; in order to initiate and continue life-saving research, the University of Minnesota Leukodystrophy Center depends on charitable donations. All funds raised from Run for ALD will directly benefit the University of Minnesota's ALD Research Fund to support their research efforts for early identification, more effective therapy and treatment options, and hopefully one day a cure for this devastating disease. Please join us virtually for our 5K run/one mile walk….you can also form a team or just make a donation to our nonprofit Knockout ALD for this very special cause to help Cure the Boys!

**Due to St. Louis County COVID newest restrictions, St. Louis County Health has withdrawn approval for our live event and has cancelled Run for ALD both 5K & 1 mile as of Wednesday, Nov. 18th. We apologize but hope you will still walk or run virtually to help Cure the Boys! Instructions for all 5K participants (virtual and live registrants) on how to post your 5K times will be forthcoming by email and posted on this site.

T-shirt packet drive by pick up: Friday, Nov.20, 3:30-6:30 at the home of Knockout ALD, Inc. 1551 Timberlake Manor Pkwy, Chesterfield, MO 63017. We have paid for all shirts and really encourage you to please come by to pick up your ordered shirt to help spread awareness of ALD. T-shirts have been mailed to out-of-town virtual participants.
