The Wildflower Run 2020

Saturday September 5th, 2020 @ 8am

A fellow Rockstar is turning 40 and she has a birthday wish, to run an ultra 50K!! Unfortunately with the current unprecedented times there are no organized runs which makes it hard to complete that dream. The Rockstar Road Warriors are not going to let that happen! Let’s help her celebrate and reach that goal while supporting a great cause at the same time!! Run, Cheer, Support and Donate!! Either way let’s Rock the DAY!! Be-leaf me, thistle be FUN!!

There will be a variety of distance routes, transportation to the start line, pick ups when you finish and a travelling toilet!! Plus, there is also the option of running Virtually!!

The Wildflower Roots: The routes will be along the Niagara River Trail and Friendship Trail with some roads. PLEASE NOTE there are no closed streets. Pay attention to traffic at crossings and yield to wheels because they will not yield to you! Route distances are approximate and have been measured as best as possible but there may be slight variances. This is a fun run!!

Wildflowers grow in places where no one thought they could, they root themselves where they want and survive in the harshest conditions. They are resilient and strong yet peacefully beautiful at the same time. As runners, we strive for a balance of physical and mental strength to find an ease of stride in each step. So when we say run like a Wildflower ... we mean it!

The Wildflower Run is not only about supporting a fellow runner, it is also about raising awareness for mental health which affects 1 in 5 Canadians. Running helps us deal with many things on many levels. When we have a tough day, we go for a run. We get stressed, we run. We feel good, we run! It helps us release and refresh our minds. As runners we understand how important the connection is between physical activity and mental health to find that balance.

**COVID-19 PANDEMIC UPDATE** We are aware of the current Covid-19 situation surrounding us as we continue to monitor the public health and government regulations. Our main goal is to keep our community safe and stop the spread! If race day gets closer and we are still under an emergency order and need to maintain social distancing, we will take measures to stay safe and healthy. At the moment we are hopeful that the run will proceed with rolling starts, social distancing and all volunteers wearing masks. If this is not the case, the run will be fully virtual and your Wildflower shirt will be shipped to you!!

There will be No Refunds as all proceeds from the run are being donated to the CMHA!! We will continue to post regular updates on the RRW Facebook page leading up to September 5th.
