My Story…
Boston is simultaneously one of the most diverse cities in the US and one of the most segregated. This contradiction exists in long-distance running as well – Black/Brown athletes often bring home medals yet there is a lack of representation of non-white athletes in popular publications, advertising, and coaching.
Pioneers Run Crew strives to break down these barriers and make running more accessible, diverse, and inclusive. Since the running community is a microcosm of society, I am proud to be taking part in Pioneers’ first-ever solo fundraiser to combat systemic racism more broadly.
