Help Cayla raise money

For participating in 12th Annual Be Ovary Aware 5K run 3K walk - Virtual

I'm raising money for Sue's Gift - Gynecologic Cancer Support

In May 2020 I was diagnosed with Stage 1B Vulvar Cancer. Most people I’ve told about my diagnosis have had to google female reproductive organs to figure out where the vulva is and that goes to show how much awareness is still needed for gynecologic cancers. We just don’t talk about our reproductive organs and our concerns are often overlooked. It is imperative to raise awareness about all gynecologic cancers. My rare cancer is a sarcoma, an even more rare form of cancer. Every day I learn something new about my diagnosis. My journey is still ongoing after 3 surgeries in 8 weeks. Sues’s Gift has given me so much since my diagnosis, including virtual support groups, a connection with another vulvar cancer survivor, and financial support with my ever-growing medical bills. Please consider contributing in honor of my fight or raising money yourself. I’ll be doing a 3K walk because running is not my thing. I hope to see your support in one way or another. Much love, Cayla

Description

When cancer hits below the belt, we're here to help! Sue’s Gift provides support for Colorado women diagnosed with gynecologic cancer.

The Sue’s Gift Financial Assistance program provides stability, security and hope to women and their families during treatment.  Cancer is expensive. Cancer patients often feel overwhelmed when the bills start coming in. One recipient said “Sue’s Gift helped me when I needed it most. I am not sure what I would have done without it.  It’s nice to know that there are people who help, with kindness and compassion.” This vital program helps ease the financial burden of cancer so women can focus on healing.

The Woman to Woman program trains and empowers survivors, one-year post treatment, to mentor a newly diagnosed patient with the same cancer type. Colorado has many rural areas, not every cancer patient can make it to a monthly support group. This program ensures that women needing emotional support after a cancer diagnoses can receive that critical support, regardless of her ability to attend a traditional cancer support group.  To see the road ahead, ask those coming back.  Woman to Woman allows newly diagnosed patients to talk one on one with a woman who has been there.

Sue’s Gift also provides “Teal Good Bags” (chemo comfort bags) to newly diagnosed patients, Integrative therapy classes, survivorship celebrations and a sense of community for women and their families/caregivers who have been affected by gynecologic cancer.
