The Rucksack March for Remembrance was established to bring people from the community together with one mission in mind. This is, to raise awareness and funding for the many Canadian Armed Forces and First Responder families who are in the midst of their own Operational Stress Injuries.
As Veterans and First Responders, we created an event that would bring people from all walks of life together in support of Wounded Warriors Canada’s mental health services.
Every year, we lose too many dedicated uniform service members to illness, injury and suicide. The struggle continues to impact families and communities nationwide and we wanted to do our part to serve those who need our help the most.
Last month saw Kris Barclay's Rucksack March 4 Remembrance held in Whitby, Ontario. His team chose to remember Operation Medusa in the Panjwaii region of Afghanistan, September 2-17, 2006. Twenty five individuals completed a 10 km ruck at Wounded Warriors Canada’s, Park of Reflection, on September 19th 2020.
November 7, 2020 will see events in Edmonton, Calgary, Bowmanville, and Yarmouth.
To allow for greater participation during these challenging times, we have created the VIRTUAL event for those who are unable to make it to a physical location due to provincial COVID-19 restrictions. The months of October and November will see Small groups and individuals across the country joining us Virtually.
We encourage you to raise funds through your donation page and share your participation on social media. Sign up below for an in person or Virtual Event.
