Bronze Medallion (Jul 27-30, 12pm-5pm) Closed
THE BRONZE MEDALLION teaches an understanding of the lifesaving principles embodied in the four components of water rescue education -- judgment, knowledge, skill and fitness. Rescuers learn both tows and carries, and release methods in preparation for challenging rescues of increased risk. Lifesavers learn to respond to increasingly complex situations involving conscious and unconscious victims with an obstructed airway. Lifesavers develop stroke efficiency and endurance in a timed swim. Bronze Medallion is a prerequisite for the Bronze Cross Award. Prerequisites: Minimum 13 years of age or Bronze Star certification Dates: July 27,28,29,30,31 1pm- 5pm (20 hours)

Lifeguarding is an exciting and rewarding job that carries great responsibility. Guards take courses and train hard for events they hope will never happen and which they work hard to prevent. NLS guards are always in training to keep their skills, knowledge and fitness sharp. They are required to keep other important certifications such as CPR and first aid up-to-date. Some are trained in advanced treatments like using oxygen or in the use of specialized equipment like defibrillators and personal watercraft. National Lifeguard is Canada's only nationally recognized lifeguard certification program. National Lifeguard is a legal certificate for lifeguarding throughout the country.
