round the lake
Note: this is a virtual run/race. You can run wherever you want (or are allowed), with whomever you wish (if they want to run with you)! :)
Starting in St.Peter's, Cape Breton, we'll head north toward Breton Brewing...home of the popular goal distance of 80k (50 miles)! From there, if you're still going, you'll swing around the north end of Bras d'Or Lake and head south towards Big Spruce, which is just beyond that famous 160k (100 mile) distance that many strive to hit! After that...how close can you get to St. Peter's?? Guess we'll see soon enough!!
In order to participate, you will need the following (no exceptions, sorry):
-a Strava account. No "manual entries" will be allowed for this event.
-either a GPS watch or a phone (with the Strava app for tracking purposes during your run)...and the knowledge of how to use them.
The 24 hour run will start at 9:00pm AST on Friday August 28, 2020.
The 12 hour run will start at 9:00am AST on Saturday August 29, 2020.
The 6 hour run will also start at 9:00am AST on Saturday August 29, 2020.
It's simple. Run/walk as far as you can in that time frame.
*Registration includes a technical running t-shirt, a fun and interactive map, plus draw prizes from Salomon, Breton Brewing and Big Spruce Brewing!
**The t-shirt and hat order will be going in once registration closes. It generally takes 1 month to get them ordered and printed, so mailing will begin near the end of September (assuming everything goes well on their end).
Milestones along the route:
KM 80 = Breton Brewing
KM 166 = Big Spruce Brewing
(25k, 50k, 100k, 130k, 160k, 200k, 225k, 250k will also be added to the map).
Rules is rules!
1. You can't start any earlier than the above noted times. Data that shows a timestamp earlier than these times will be taken out of the results.
2. You had better not go OVER the time limit either. Data that shows a timestamp later than these times will be taken out of the results.
3. When you have completed your run, upload to Strava and we'll see where everyone lands. Your distance, according to Strava, will also be shown (similar to our "Run Across Nova Scotia" map).
4. If you somehow lose your data or delete your data, there's nothing we can do and you won't show in the results.
5. If have a device glitch on your run (distance is clearly incorrect, in either direction or there was a GPS malfunction that omitted/added distance) there's nothing we can do and you won't show in the results.
6. Sorry, but no refunds or deferrals. If you can't participate, you can sell (aka: transfer) your spot to someone else (note: transfer are subject to a $10 transfer fee).
