About Up and Running Guelph
Founded in 2016, Up and Running is a registered charitable organization that delivers running and walking programs for women who are experiencing mental health issues. Our programs are inclusive and non-competitive with a focus on helping people take that first step out the door to experience the mental health benefits of outdoor exercise (green exercise) and social connections. The results from a 2-year study of Up and Running participants experienced reduced symptoms of depression and increased self esteem, life satisfaction and physical activity. To date, our walking and running programs have impacted over 300 participants locally through 5 programs, delivered 4 days a week in local parks and trails.
As we recognize the growing demand for our programs, we understand the need to adapt our delivery methods, increase training for our volunteers, explore technology to better reach our team and our community, and broaden our programming to reach to more diverse audiences and at-risk populations. To reach these goals, we need your help. Join us to Pick Up The Pace, together!
