For participating in Pick up the Pace Virtual Race for Mental Health

My Story…

Hello Everyone! Here is a little bit of my story of how Up and Running Guelph helped me, and now how I can return the favour. I started with Up and Running Guelph as a participant in the winter of 2017. This was about two months after a car crash left me struggling with Post Concussion Syndrome. This difficult part of my life only made the other parts harder to deal with and I knew I needed help. I went to counselling and started running with Up and Running. Here, I found a community of women who helped me understand that we can struggle and still be okay. We can not want to go running, and still show up because we know there are people there waiting for us. We can talk about our problems, or simply be part of a group where no one expects you to talk or be entertaining. It was a solace in a very dark time, and for that, I am forever grateful. That is what Up and Running does - gives hope to people who need it. Please donate and run with me! Your Friend, Allie
