IPRA and ProConnect....and the Virtual Race
Creating connections is greater than social distancing! In an effort to serve our local community (while still staying safe!), IPRA and the ProConnect Program will donate $20 per person (capped at $1,000) to the Bridge Teen Center for every ProConnect participant and board member that completes a 5K sometime between October 19-25.
The Bridge Teen Center provides free programs to teens to help them develop mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually in a safe environment.
There is no time limit and very few rules. Simply walk, run or dance your way through the 5K to help this amazing non-profit fulfill its mission! And don’t forget to snap a selfie in your Connecting > Social Distancing t-shirt! Additional donations are welcome but not required.
The Bridge Teen Center
The Bridge Teen Center is an innovative grassroots nonprofit community center that was designed around the interests and needs of teens in the suburbs. We opened in Orland Park in 2010, and have served over 9,000 different teens and families from 128 Chicago Southland and Northwest Indiana communities.
Our mission is to provide free programs during after-school and unsupervised hours where students can develop mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually in a safe environment. The vision of The Bridge Teen Center is to provide teens with a place to find hope, purpose, and direction.
We serve students in 7th-12th grade, and also provide ongoing programs and resources to help parents navigate through the teenage years. Because student safety is our primary concern, The Bridge is managed by experienced professionals who are supported by well-trained and pre-screened adult volunteers.
We rely entirely on the volunteer and financial support of the community to keep our programs free for students. Currently, our funding comes from foundations (31%), The Bridge Thrift Store (27% plus in-kind supplies), fundraising events (22%), individual donations (12%) and entities (8%).
We take every investment in our mission to heart, and strive to maximize each and every dollar we receive. We are proud of the fact that for every dollar donated, 90 cents directly supports the students we serve. In every sense of the phrase, The Bridge Teen Center is built by the community, for the community.
Donations
Additional donations are welcome but not required.
Please make additional donations out to the Illinois Park & Recreation Association, and mail them to IPRA c/o Duane Smith at 536 East Avenue in La Grange, IL 60525.
Donations must be received by Friday, October 16th and will be included in the event donation to the Bridge Teen Center.
