Industrial 5K
Commemorative Bib
Medal
Finally!!! A real IN-PERSON event! (There's also a virtual option).
You get a cool industrial finisher’s medal, a washable mask, and a bib!
The BIG arch with music, awards for placing, and even a 1km split time as well as your 5K overall time.
A permit has been acquired for an in-person Chip Timed 5K Run/Walk on 27 September 2020. Allowing 225 runners to run an industrial course in the Dartmouth/Burnside area encompassing Wilkinson Avenue, Higney Avenue, Jim Connors Avenue, and Cutler Avenue, then back to Wilkinson Avenue. It’s basically straight and flat for 1 Km, then up hill for 1 Km, then down a steep hill for 1Km, next is a gentle hill for 1 Km, and then back to the finish for a straight flat for the final 1 Km. Fun!!
A set of mats at the 1 Km point for a little extra 1 Km competition inside the 5 Km event.
What do you get? Well... you get a lot of rules to follow but you also get a race kit with the following:
- a washable mask (please wear it to the event or another mask that you are comfortable wearing properly). No need to run with the mask! Unless you want to.
- a race bib with timing chip, please wear it properly on your torso, not your leg, your back, or anywhere else... the front of your torso! :-)
- a START/FINISH area site plan.
- a list of rules
The virtual event version of this 5K will also receive a medal, bib, and washable mask. Registration fee for the virtual event includes race kit shipping.
There will NOT be any race day registration OR race day kit pickup. Race kit pickup will be conducted in person or curb-side during the week before the event, locations to be announced.
A mask must be worn inside the race corral area at all times, once the race begins and you can keep a safe distance from other runners on the route, you may remove your mask. Once you cross the finish line, you must put your mask back on. If you are not okay with this rule, then perhaps the virtual race option is better suited for you

Route
ROUTE:
Assemble behind 315 Wilkinson Ave. Start from there on RH side of road, continue along Wilkinson around post and turn Left at Higney Ave., then around post, turn Right on Jim Connors Ave., then turn around post Left on Cutler Ave., then Right on Wilkinson Ave, and Finish again on Road near 315 Wilkinson Ave. All participants are to stay RIGHT along the whole course.
The rules:
- Don't be late! Arrive on time. Please no earlier than 1 hour before the event and no later than 15 minutes before the START as we will be arranging everyone by pace/predicted finish time. Lowest bibs at the START mats and highest bibs at the back. This means that participants who declared the fastest finish times in registration, will be at the front nearest the START mats. This is to mitigate overtaking during the race.
- There will be lengths of rope placed on the ground leading up to the START line. Tape is placed on the rope every 6 feet. Please follow signage and stand in the appropriate place according to your bib number.
- You will wear a mask all the while waiting for the gun to sound and when you cross the START mats, you can remove your mask as long as you can safely distance from other participants outside of your bubble.
- You must NOT attend the Industrial 5K in-person event, if in the previous 14 days before race day:
- you've been diagnosed with COVID-19, or are waiting to hear the results of a lab test for COVID-19
- you have symptoms of COVID-19, even if mild
- you've been in contact with someone who has or is suspected to have COVID-19
- you've been told by public health that you may have been exposed to COVID-19
- you've returned from travel outside Canada with symptoms of COVID-19
- You must wear a mask when inside the gathering area and on the start line for the in-person event and social distance yourself from other people where possible. You may remove your mask after you cross the START mats as long as you are able to remain a safe 6 foot distance from other runners that are outside of your bubble
- You must put your mask back on once you cross the finish line and enter into the gathering/finish area. Receive your medal and exit the Finish area as promptly as possible.
