Raise money for Good Samaritan Center
The Good Samaritan Center is currently assisting families and individuals in the greater Jackson and Laurel areas of Mississippi with food assistance, SNAP applications, voter registration, housing applications, and unemployment applications. 12Ks for the Holidays is also a MAJOR fundraiser for Good Sam's Christmas Program! Last year, the Center helped over 130 children with Christmas gifts and approximately 50 families with holiday food baskets. This assistance program, for low-income working parents, helps people that would otherwise be unable to provide Christmas for their families. We are hoping to serve more families this year, as we know the need has greatly increased! Please help us meet our fundraising goals!
We are also currently partnering with Jackson Housing Authority to provide elderly, disabled, or immunocompromised Golden Key Apartment residents with food assistance and to operate the Golden Key EnVision Center, a community center vital to its six surrounding neighborhoods and houses the Fannie Lou Hamer library.
Additionally, during the COVID-19 crisis, Good Samaritan Center and our partner organization Extra Table, created the Hub for the Hungry, which unites Mississippi nonprofit agencies with food distribution companies and local farmers. Our current main partners are KLLM Transport, Merchants Foodservice, Sysco Jackson, Dot Foods, Two Dog Farms, and Salad Days.
