This year you can once again support community by joining us for a virtual walk or run, in support of Kimmy a local runner.
Imagine enjoying a warm summer evening, you leave your front door, tie your running shoes and set out for your daily jog. This evening like many others starts no differently, you’re doing something that you love, no thoughts necessary.
On July 29thlike many of us in our community Kimmy was doing what we all enjoy and go for an evening stroll. But on this day something happened to her that none of us would expect. She was senselessly attacked. The next day she was found in critical condition and sustained multiple life threatening injuries that required medical procedures, ongoing treatment and therapy to assist with healing.
As runners we know that community matters, we have run to raise funds for so many charities, and now we can run to raise money for someone in our community.
Kimmy the victim of this senseless crime, and it could have been any female runner. Your sister, your mother, your aunt, your friend, your wife or girlfriend. In fact, Kimmy was all those, to people in her family.
On November the week of November 15 to 21, we are hosting a virtual race to raise money for Kimmy’s ongoing treatment. We hope you will join us and register for this walk/run. You will receive a special finishers medal, that may be picked up at the Live With Spirit Yoga & Fitness Studio in Whitby Ontario.
In the past we have raised thousands of dollars for the Abilities Centre in Whitby, and for Shannon Wilsons Children (Sadly Shannon passed away young from cancer.) This year due to COVID we are hosting the run virtually but we are still looking after our own. Raising money within the community to support one of us.
