Important Event Statement from the Race Director
The Old Highway 51 Run/Walk will be one of few local live – on the ground - roadway events this year.
New Orleans Running Systems Road Race Management requests that each of us adhere to the stated social distance protocols in place on the day of the race.
We miss all of our running and walking friends
*** If we all work together and use sound adult judgement and observe safety measures we can enjoy an event with no COVID related medical concerns.
Safety Protocols for the Old Highway 51 Run/Walk
NORSI/NOLArunning.com encourages all entrants and spectators to consider the following:
- Wear a face mask when at race site except during the time that you are participating in the run/walk on the course.
- Observe social distance ( 6 feet separation ) and be respectful of others as well as let others know if not using proper social distance as required on date of event.
- Before you leave to attend the event, should you feel ill and/or run a fever please consider staying home
- Do not congregate in groups of more than 10
- Pre-race day packet pickup ( see details posted on registration page ) is encouraged to minimize day of race packet pickup crowding. Registration will be available at pre-race packet pickup locations to minimize day of race registration crowding.
- Review and remember the start times posted. Noting that we will have three separate start groups. Do not approach the start area until near your posted start time.
- Upon completion, please put your mask back on and continue to the post race festivities area.
- For your own safety consider bringing your own water bottle, hand sanitizer.
NORSI / NOLArunning.com staff and volunteers will be wearing masks and if distributing any food / beverage items will be wearing gloves
Water stations on course will be stocked with bottled water and water in cups ( you decide ) all volunteers will be wearing masks and gloves at each station. Please use trash containers placed near each station ( Keep your course clean )

Chip timed event ( all distances ): Please wear your bib number on FRONT only. Must be visible. There are separate color coded race number bibs for each event distance ( Half, 10 Mile, 5K ) Please make sure you are wearing the correct distance bib. If pre-registered, please check the name label on back of your bib to confirm name is yours. If picking up bib for others, please check label on back to distribute bib to correct entrant. Timing / Scoring will be by NET CHIP TIME due to separate start times for each distance division. * REMINDER - separate start times for each event distance.

Fast, flat !. Good for a personal record time challenge - Excellent for training for long distance events such as a Marathon
Signage at each Mile split location. ( Marker stake with sign placed about 10 feet from roadside edge. * Makes it harder for passing vehicles in the early morning to take them out..!
Aid stations on course 8 stations for Half-Marathon ( approx each 1-1/2 mile separation )
A port-o-let will be placed near to each on course aid station

EVENT PARTICIPANTS PARKING: Suggested parking 1 mile north ( across bridge ) at the public boat launch area parking lots on U. S. Highway 51
Bus Transportation ( Free ) from these parking lots will be provided pre-race beginning at 6:45 am and post race until 11:30 am.
