The VIRTUAL Big Elf Run
Come run the official Big Elf Run route with voice guided navigation around Stanley Park.
Live from December 1st 2020
This holiday themed run offers a guided 5km or 10km run around scenic Stanley Park.
Learn about the many sights and landmarks in the park as well as receiving motivational messages from Fizzy B - Santa's favourite athletic elf.
Isolating? not able to access Stanley Park? Don't live in Vancouver?- Take part with all the same facts and motivational messages but without the directions by choosing "Virtual Treadmill" or "Virtual Outdoor" in the Run Go App and run on your treadmill or in your own neighbourhood!
Starting December 1st take part in challenges to complete the Elf scavenger hunt over the "12 days of Christmas"
Starting at Lumberman's Arch, the course winds its way along trails surrounded by old oak trees before looping onto the seawall with hallmark views of Coal Harbour and the Burrard Inlet. With few inclines and mainly paved paths, everyone is assured a beautiful and stress-free run/walk.
The route is suitable for all ages and abilities. Pet & Stroller Friendly!
As we cannot meet in person this year (and thus collect gifts and toys)
Please consider making a cash donation to our charity partner The Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau (via the donation option during registration) to help spread some cheer to local children and families in need over this festive period.

When can I take part?
You can take part on any date from December 1st until December 31st provided you don’t leave Santa short staffed in the workshop!

How to Run "Virtually"
Step 1: Get the free RunGo app
Download the RunGo app for iPhone, Android, or Apple Watch, or make sure you have the latest update.
We suggest creating a free RunGo account to keep track of your completed runs, but this is optional to participate.
Step 2: Open the race route in the app
The voice-guided app highlights some of the stories, supporters, and points of interest in our city.
Read the route’s description on RunGo to prepare for your run, including starting spot.
Step 3: Run the route
You can follow these routes on RunGo with the built-in turn-by-turn voice navigation, without getting lost, and without needing a map!
We suggest trying a practice run, as a separate run or warm-up: select your race route, choose Virtual Treadmill or Virtual Outdoor Mode (if you’re not at Stanley Park), start your run, and end after taking a number of steps (say, 30 seconds), in order to make yourself comfortable with the start and finish.
Step 4: Seamless submit to the leaderboard
At the end of the run, look for “Share Your Run” -> “Submit to Virtual Race” and select your race’s name. This will seamlessly add your run or runs to the leaderboard on the race website.
Step 5: Celebrate!
You did it. Way to go! Check the leaderboard. Tell us your story! Share your run, photo, or video on social media, and mention @rungoapp @bigfunrunseries or #rungoapp #bigfunrunseries
Prizing
Prizing Qualification period is from Dec 1st to Dec 20th 2020.
Most prizing is provided by businesses based in BC or Vancouver, so should awards be won by anyone living outside this area they will be substituted with a free entry to a future Big Fun Run Series Virtual or in-person run.
