Virtual 5K Fire Relief Fun Run
Join the Mermaid community and help support non-profits that are providing relief to fire victims or have been impacted by the 2020 fires. The Mermaid Series will be donating 100% of all entry fees to the four organizations below.
Complete your 5K between October 16th and October 19th, 2020
Note: The entry fee does not include a shirt, medal or necklace. 100% of each entry fee ($25) will go to the non-profit organizations.
How it works:
- Mermaid Series will donate 100% of the entry fees collected to the non-profit organizations
- During registration, choose one of the four non-profit organizations that the Mermaid Series will be donating to (see locations and descriptions below) OR choose the free Virtual 5K: [Donate on your own] category to commit to making a donation directly to a non-profit of your choice.
- Sign up for the virtual 5K run ($25)
- Complete your run between Oct. 16 - 19 and submit your results online
- PLEASE NOTE:
- In order to maximize the donation amount and give 100% of the entry fee to the non-profit organizations this event does NOT include a shirt, medal or necklace.
- Participants have the option to add a Mermaid Apparel shirt at the discounted rate of $10 plus $4.95 shipping. Discounted rate is 50% off the retail price. Proceeds from the shirt sales are not included in the donation amount.

The non-profit organizations:
1. California Fire Foundation [Greater California] - The California Fire Foundation’s Supplying Aid to Victims of Emergency (SAVE) program brings immediate, short-term relief to victims of fire and other natural disasters throughout California. Through this program, frontline firefighters in California provide SAVE gift cards to eligible victims of fire and natural disasters so they may purchase basic necessities such as food, clothing or medicine.
2. Lucky Ones Ranch [Sacramento, California] - The Lucky Ones Ranch is a non-profit animal sanctuary in the Vacaville / Sacramento area of California. The Ranch was co-founded by Thao & Vince, a husband / wife duo, along with their awesome team of volunteers. The Lucky Ones Ranch provides a forever home to animals who have been neglected, abused and/or were no longer wanted. On August 19, 2020, the Lucky Ones Ranch was completely burned to the ground by the LNU Lightning Complex Fire. The Lucky Ones Ranch has been fortunate to find a new home in Sacramento. All funds donated to the ranch go to the care and feed of the animals.
3. NCW Fire Relief Fund [North Central Washington] - The NCW Fire Relief fund supports the long-term recovery efforts for individuals families that have been impacted by wildfire across North Central Washington. They work with nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and faith-based organizations to rebuild homes, structures, and meet other needs necessary to rebuild lives. Donations go directly to support those in need.
4. American Red Cross - Western Wildfire Donation [Western United States] - Funds are designated within the American Red Cross to specifically support those affected by the Western Wildfires.
