The STA community is raising money for Lazarus House Ministries. Be the hands and FEET of Christ as we strive to raise funds so that the most vulnerable among us will have enough to eat this winter.

COVID-19 continues to touch our STA community in a myriad of ways. It challenges us to reimagine and redesign our traditional customs.

For 25 years, St. Thomas Aquinas has partnered with Lazarus House Ministries in Lawrence, MA with our Canned Food Drive. Each year, Lazarus House relies upon STA for support and each year, our community fills their need for food and for hope.

Last year, STA brought in 18,000 food items. 15,000 items were delivered to Lazarus House and 3,000 items were distributed among local NH food banks.

This year, the need is greater than ever. And yet the challenges in meeting the need are also greater than ever.

Many grocers are not able to supply the quantity of canned goods and non-perishable items as in previous years. The present interruption to our in-person learning means that we are not able to facilitate our traditional advisory-based collection.

We believe we have a solution, one presented to us by a St. Thomas Aquinas alumnus who was inspired by our Catholic mission and who now has found a way to carry it forward.

Adam Nash, STA Class of 2010, is Product Manager for PWR Lab, a California-based sports data analytics company. His team designed and built a turnkey event platform for fundraisers and races that were forced to cancel due to COVID-19. STA is working with Adam and his team to host our own Turkey Trot fundraiser!

The STA Turkey Trot will allow our community to raise funds in place of canned food items. These funds will then be donated to Lazarus House and several local food banks to help alleviate hunger. Thank you for your generosity!

The process is simple:

– Join our team today!  $10 to join. $5 goes directly to Lazarus House, + 100% of any generous donations beyond that

– Invite friends & family to join the fun. Encourage each other to move from literally anywhere

– You will have 10 days to complete 2 runs/walks/jogs: get out for a 1 mile and/or a 5k between Nov 20 – Nov 29. Safely, on your own schedule, at your own pace.

– Upload your results to the leaderboard and follow along as the standings update in real time!
(OPTIONAL: if you use a GPS watch or smartphone when you run, the results can be auto-detected and uploaded for you)
