Dolly's Legacy Animal Rescue Freedom Run
November 24, 2020 - January 1, 2021
Dolly's Legacy wants you to run (walking and biking or any other activity of your choice is ok too) any time between now and the end of the year to help raise funds to make it possible for more deserving animals to get their "Freedom Ride" from overcrowded shelters or other abusive situations into loving foster and furever homes.
Dolly's Legacy Animal Rescue's mission is to save orphaned and abandoned pets from overcrowded shelters or abusive situations where they are out of time & out of hope. Dolly's Legacy rescues dogs, puppies, cats & kittens, and places them into loving foster homes while awaiting adoption. While in their foster home they learn what it is like to be loved members of a family. Prior to being placed in foster, many may have never known anything but starvation, cruelty and abuse. While in their foster homes, and prior to being available for adoption, they receive all the vet care needed, including spay/neuter, heartworm testing & treatment if necessary, vaccinations, microchipping, treatment for parasites, surgical intervention, and hospitalization. Dolly's relies on donations in order to continue saving these deserving animals.
Dolly's Legacy Animal Rescue is an all-volunteer, foster-based rescue group.

Caesar's Story
We did a REALLY good thing today. For the past week we've been getting notices about this sad boy on the euthanasia list at a crowded large city shelter. His owners surrendered him, and it broke his heart. He had lost everything. His home, his family, and now maybe even his life. His deadline was extended four times in hopes a rescue would come for him. But day after day he waited and hope dimmed that he would make it out alive. Today was to be his last. Our fosters are full and we are low on funds, but he was tugging so hard at our hearts. How could we turn away and let him die? Well, we couldn't. Not on our watch.
Meet Caesar, now a happy, smiling boy who knows he's been given new life. Just look at the difference in him, sitting in the shelter, and his FREEDOM RIDE to safety. We're already smitten with him. Welcome to Dolly's Legacy, Caesar. Your happily ever after starts today.
Warrior's (now Cooper) Story
Five years ago this precious pup came into Dolly's Legacy's Rescue. He was five months old and had suffered agonizing pain during his short life. His skin was raw & bleeding, swollen to the point his paws were nearly double their normal size. He was found collapsed, crying and trembling on a doorstep in far southeastern Missouri. Dolly's Legacy was contacted and said yes to rescuing him. His road to recovery was long but once Dolly's says yes, they will spare no expense to get them healthy and in a loving furever home. On the day he arrived he was placed in a loving foster home where he stole their hearts. He received vet care he needed and now he is in a loving home where he will never again feel pain at the hands of humans. The pictures below show "Warrior" as he looked on the day he received his FREEDOM RIDE and what he looks like now. His adoptive family renamed him Cooper and they cannot be more in love with him.
FUNDRAISING
When you register, your own unique fundraising page will be created. Share this link with your friends and family to solicit donations to Dolly's. The top fundraiser will receive a gift of this beautiful Freedom Run mixed media painting by local Lincoln, NE artist Mark Coyle, the "Prince of Wire." In case of a tie, a drawing will be held to pick the lucky recipient.

You May be Able to Deduct Charitable Donations Up to $300 for Individuals or $600 for Joint Filers Even if You Do Not Itemize Deductions
To provide some relief for charitable organizations, Congress included a provision in the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, P.L. 116-136, that permits eligible individuals who do not itemize deductions to deduct $300 of qualified charitable contributions ($600 for joint tax filers) as an "above-the-line" deduction for tax years beginning in 2020.*
