Grand Tour Marathon and Half Marathon

GrAND TOUR VIRTUAL MARATHON & HALF MARATHON

The Parkway Half Marathon Committee is pleased to present the Grand Tour Marathon and Half Marathon. Building on the Tour de Parkway concept, this race is the second of several scheduled virtual footraces with an actual-course option, which is grouped into our new Parkway Race Series. This race follows the same format as the Tour de Parkway; in that, you have the option to complete the mileage virtually in your neighborhood or favorite workout location, or you can complete the race using an actual designated course charted out along the American River Parkway with the RunGo app to guide you along. Additionally, the routes are of loop design so you start and finish at the same place.

The difference between this race and the Tour de Parkway is that there is only a single stage for the entire distance - marathon at 26.2 miles or half marathon at 13.1 miles. But with the extended mileage of each course, you'll be traveling through more areas within the Parkway and have even more opportunities to take in the incredible scenery and vistas. And while this race is only a single stage, you do have 6 weeks to complete one or both distances; the manner in which you choose to divide the mileage over the duration being at your discretion. Please note, however, that the marathon and half marathon races each have distinct and different courses, so if you are ambitious and want to do both, you must register for both (there is discount pricing for registering for both) and you must complete a total of 39.3 miles.

As this is a virtual race, should you choose the actual-course option there will be no aid-station support. Participants must be fully self-sustained. To assist you in strategic planning for your own mobile aid stations, the pre-race information will provide recommended locations to park a car for your mobile aid station.

And of course, all proceeds from the race go to benefit your American River Parkway - our number one place to run, walk, bike, kayak, and just get away from it all for a while.
