Fighting Skin Cancer on Two Wheels
This is my 6th Gran Fondo, and while I enjoy every aspect of riding, my participation in this event becomes more personal every year. I have been fortunate, but I have a number of close friends who have dealt with skin cancer in one form or another. I hope you will help me to reach my goal so that MSU can continue to fund research to put an end to this type of cancer.
Description
Most of us have known people who have personally fought the battle against cancer. Through modern treatments and much grace, some have survived. Others have not. The MSU Gran Fondo is my opportunity to get some skin in the game and provide hope for nearly 70,000 people in the U.S. expected to be diagnosed with melanomas of the skin this year.
Funds raised from the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine Gran Fondo support skin cancer awareness, prevention and research at MSU. These dollars are funding pilot studies – investigative, next-step research that tests findings and enables a scientific study to continue.
