Welcome to the Cumberland YMCA Kids of Steel Triathlon. This first of its kind event in Cumberland County Nova Scotia, will give kids (from ages 3-19) a chance to give the sport of Triathlon, a try. This event is sanctioned and insured by Triathlon Nova Scotia. Triathlon Nova Scotia is a non-profit organization, whose mission is to grow and develop the sport in a fun, safe and fair way. By racing with us you are not only going to have a wonderful, family-friendly experience, but you will also be helping to develop and grow the sport of triathlon, through future events and supporting programs. This even provides a supportive, family-friendly environment that celebrates individual achievement through triathlon – motivating kids to get fit, have fun and gain confidence. Here are just some of the reasons why our events are unique:
- Participation-based, family-friendly fun events for kids ages 3-19
- Sanctioned by Triathlon Nova Scotia
- Our biking and running routes are spectator friendly, so that family members can watch their athletes along the respective courses.
- Everyone receives a t-shirt, finisher’s medal and a race kit full of goodies!
Participants in the Kids of Steel Triathlon all share the same goal – to make it to the finish line and have fun doing it!
All children are winners and will receive a medal for their accomplishment, an assortment of healthy snacks and other treats at the finish line. Hopefully, they all have a new love for the sport of triathlon and will become the next generation of triathletes in the province.This is a FUN event with a focus on all children successfully crossing the finish line and having a great time. Children can wear lifejackets or arm floaties if needed. There are some lifejackets at the pool but if you have your own please bring it along. Also, the younger age groups swim across the pool so they are in the shallow end at all times. There are also lifeguards on the pool deck and in the water to ensure your child’s safety. Parents are not allowed in the pool with their children during the competition.
