MRTC - KIDS! Fall Running Program 2021

**Please note - We have had to move our next 2 training sessions (June 12 & 19) to Hope Church Memphis - 8500 Walnut Grove Rd, Cordova, TN 38018. The start time is still 9 AM. We will meet at the soccer fields behind the church.

GET READY, GET SET ...

LET'S GO!!!

The MRTC KIDS! Run program focuses on children in the community and teaches them a sport we all love - running! Training is based on the children's ages and abilities. In the training program the kids learn to maintain proper form when running and how to complete their assigned distance.

MRTC KIDS! Run centers on four core values - NAPS

1. Nutrition
2. Activity
3. Perseverance
4. Self-esteem

MRTC KIDS! Run uses RRCA's Kids Run the Nation Program Guide and children are taught that proper nutrition and hydration are important in daily actions.

In addition, our coaches give instruction on how to run safely, the importance of a warm up and cool down, stretching, running etiquette, and how to have fun while you exercise.

Training culminates in their own KIDS-only race. They will get to participate in their race and will receive goodies plus a Finisher Item!

Location for the races: Christian Brothers High School, 5900 Walnut Grove Rd., Memphis, TN 38120

The kids will be broken into appropriate ages and skill levels. We will have skilled coaches for each group.

Please note that registration will close on June 3rd.

TRAINING SESSIONS:

THE ONE-HOUR TRAINING PROGRAMS ARE HELD ON SATURDAYS AT HOPE CHURCH

**There will be no on-site registration**

• 9:00 am to 10:00 am at the soccer fields behind the church
• Saturday, June 5, 2021
• Saturday, June 12, 2021
• Saturday, June 19, 2021

THE RACES:

There will be no race day registration.

• 2:00 pm - Christian Brothers High School, 5900 Walnut Grove Rd., Memphis, TN 38120
• Sunday, June 27, 2021

DISTANCES BY AGE:

• 4 & Under - 100 yard dash
• 5-6 yr olds - ¼ mile
• 7-8 yr olds - ½ mile
• 9-10 yr olds - 1 mile
• 11-13 yr olds - 2 miles

ENTRY FEE:

• $25 per child

PLEASE NOTE:

• Finisher Items must be picked up race day.

In case of inclement weather, we will not be planning make up sessions

COVID SPECIFIC SAFETY GUIDELINES

We will ask that any participant or spectator who has COVID19 related symptoms to please stay home. Symptoms include: fever in the last 48 hours, chills, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea, vomiting or diarrhea in the last 24 hours.

Masks are encouraged when the kids are in a group or huddle.
