The 10th Annual Tour de Victoria is happening October 2nd. Early October is a great time to ride the scenic roads of Greater Victoria.
We will continue to monitor all government regulations dictated by the BC Provincial Health Authority and ensure all safety precautions are followed to ensure a safe event.
See COVID Protocols 2021 below.
- We look forward to riding with you in October! -
Since the Tour’s inception in 2011, more than 2,000 volunteers have become the force that produces one of the best-known cycling events in North America. By joining our crew, you’ll become one of the nearly 400 volunteers it takes to give our cyclists their best day in the saddle.
Our volunteers are the most valuable assets we have; you are the eyes, ears, hands and feet on the ground.
No cycling experience necessary.
We guarantee you’ll have fun, make new friends, and feel the pride of being the force behind the Tour de Victoria.
For registration assistance, please email our Volunteers Director, Trish Duncan, at volunteers@tourdevictoria.com
To host a safe edition of this year’s Tour de Victoria, we have developed special protocols to prevent the spread of Covid-19 at our event. We have identified pinch points associated with our event, where these protocols will assist in our goal. We will also rigidly follow the directions of the Provincial Health Organization at the time of the event. We believe that by following these protocols, and the direction of the PHO that the event can be run safely this year. The event is held exclusively outdoors, including package pickup. The date of the event has changed from Aug 21st to Oct 2nd this year. We chose this later date to coordinate with the province of BC’s covid 19 vaccination schedule.
Below is our Covid Mitigation Policy:
- We will provide masks around the footprint of the event, for riders and volunteers to wear
- The event takes place entirely outdoors
- 7 different start times, allowing our riders to come at a scheduled start time and reduces the number of people together in a group.
- Once the riders are out on the course, they will be spread out over multiple kilometres and several hours (Ride is scheduled from 7:30am-4:40pm)
- Our volunteers will be required to wear masks indoors and outdoors when they can’t physically distance themselves.
- If volunteers are handling food items, they must be masked up and wearing gloves.
- We will have hand sanitizer for all food stations
- We will have signs posted throughout the footprint of the event regarding covid illness, suggesting riders to stay away if sick or, if required, to self-isolate.
- We are offering virtual volunteer training and meetings
- If riders fall ill during the ride, we have a professional medical team embedded throughout the footprint of the ride to take appropriate measures.
- We have increased the numbers of hand sanitizing stations across the footprint of the event and at all food stations and toilet facilities.
- Our riders are required to wear masks at the start lines, when they are stopped at aid stations, and at the finish line.
- Prepackaged food will be distributed to riders at aid stations and the finish line. There will be no common food.
- The event will follow a WorkSafeBC-guided communicable disease prevention plan, and all event activities will be subject to change, as per revisions to the Public Health Orders.
- We will be communicating our Covid-19 policy to our riders via our website, through our rider information package, and through verbal instruction when they start the ride.
