Our team is named after Coach Moore's best four legged friend - Artemas (Artie for short). Artie is a former service dog who spends his retirement eating all the treats, lounging around, and snuggling with Grandma and Grandpa <3

Artie's life of service and what More Than Fitness represents, go hand in hand for too many reasons to list. Artie used his training to ensure that his handlers always arrived at their destinations safely and usually with a smile (because he's so dang cute). When he was working, he was a constant reminder that whatever his handlers were facing, it would get better, especially when you've got support. More Than Fitness helps local youth on their journey in reaching their own "destination", whatever it may be. Through meditation, fitness, and discussions about why mental health is important, kids that are a part of this organization develop into adults that are emotionally strong, have unbreakable spirits, and go on to do things in life understanding that the only thing that can ever limit them, is themselves. 

The rate of suicide amongst those aged 10-24 has increased nearly 60% in the last decade. Stigma and poor access to mental health services are two main contributing factors to this public health crisis. More Than Fitness aims to reverse this trend through fitness and wellness programs and by increasing their enrollment a little each year.
