2021 Homeboy 5K Run/Walk
Join Homeboy Industries and 4,000 runners, walkers, volunteers, and families for our 13th Annual Homeboy 5K Run/Walk through historic Downtown Los Angeles! We’ll begin the morning filled with energetic vibes, joy and laughter outside our Chinatown headquarters and end with a street celebration featuring artists, partners and vendors from across the city.
We are humbled and excited to celebrate community, wellness, and “returning to ourselves.” Your partnership with the Homeboy 5K Run/Walk supports the work of Homeboy to continue our mission to provide training and support to formerly gang-involved and previously incarcerated people, allowing them to redirect their lives and become contributing members of our community. Through our partnership, your company can reach thousands of passionate Homeboy Industries supporters, athletes, families, volunteers and social enterprise customers.

EVENT DETAILS: Homeboy Merchandise will be available for purchase. (Cashless payments only. No Apple Pay available.)
PARTICIPANT PACKET PICK-UP: Runners and walkers of all ages who register for the Homeboy 5K Run / Walk will receive a t-shirt, chip timing, a commemorative souvenir, and access to all post-race festivities outside our headquarters.
VERY IMPORTANT:
· All participants are required to show a photo ID or confirmation email with proof of registration to pick up their individual packet.
· You may only pick up other people’s packets if you have a photo or copy of their ID.
· For those who registered with a TEAM, your team leader is allowed to pick up for your entire team if needed. Please check in at the Solutions table for assistance.
· Only parents/guardians can pick up packets for their children under the age of 18.
· Lost or Forgotten bibs WILL NOT be replaced if picked up the day before.
· NO Virtual Runners will be allowed to pick up their items here as they will be shipped later (details shared below in virtual runner section).
· For the safety of all runners, there will be NO EXCEPTIONS made to these rules. Please plan accordingly.
Your bib number will be assigned to you at packet pick up. After checking in, you will receive your timed race bib as well as a t-shirt. All participants should wear their bib on the front of their shirt while running/walking - this is how we track your time when you cross the finish line.

RACE DAY SCHEDULE:
· Packet Pick-Up- 6:00AM - 8:00AM
· Expo/Festival- 7:00AM - 11:00AM
· 5K Start Time: 8:00AM
· Kids Run Start Time: 9:30AM
· Event Concludes: 11:00AM
VIRTUAL RUNNERS: If you registered as a Virtual Runner, you can run your 5K anywhere, at your own pace, and on your own time. Your packet will be mailed to the address on your registration 1-2 weeks AFTER race day. Your packets WILL NOT be available during the above scheduled packet pick-up hours. Further, if you are a registered Virtual Runner, we cannot change your registration to be physically present on race day.
GEAR CHECK: Gear Check will NOT be provided for this run. We ask that you leave any personal items and articles of warm up clothing in your vehicle. We suggest keeping identification on you at all times for safety purposes. Homeboy Industries is not responsible for lost or stolen personal items. Please plan accordingly.
SPECTATORS: Spectators are welcome and will be allowed to watch runners along the race route.
WATER STATIONS & POST RACE REFRESHMENTS:
For runner safety, there will be NO water stations along the 5k course route. Runners and spectators both are encouraged to bring their own water. At the Finish Line, all runners will receive one (1) water bottle per finisher.
MASK POLICY: In accordance with local health officials, face coverings are required in all indoor spaces regardless of vaccination status. Unvaccinated individuals are required to wear a face covering at all times. If you are experiencing any Covid-19 symptoms, we ask that you do not attend the race and stay home if you are not feeling well.
For added safety and precaution, we are asking that everyone, regardless of vaccination status, wear face coverings at the Expo and at the Start and Finish Lines. Masks may be removed by runners during the run/walk. Please mask up when possible.
EXPO + FESTIVAL: Our Expo will take place on Saturday (RACE DAY) in front of Homeboy Industries located at 130 W. Bruno St, Los Angeles, CA 90012. We will have vendors providing food samples, selling items and so much more! Please be sure you visit each booth!

AWARDS: Age group awards will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place male & female finishers in each age group. Please note, awards will not be mailed if not picked up on race day.

PARKING:
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 1ST: Free street parking is available on Main St near Homeboy Industries.
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 2nd
Race participants will have access to FREE parking located at 129 W. College St. Many of the streets that you may be familiar may be closed due to the race so please allow enough time and plan accordingly.
If you are taking the metro, the closest stops to Homeboy Industries are:
Gold/L Line – Chinatown stop
Red Line – Union Station
Purple Line – Union Station
Please be sure to check schedules for Saturday service, which may be limited in the morning.
