My Story...
What do Covid 19 and Cancer have in common ..besides the obvious fact that they can make you very sick and even cause death? What it is, is that takes over and dominates every part of your everyday living. I have been very blessed to never experienced having a child sick with cancer but the journey of a teacher friend with her infant daughter just over a year ago helped me to better understand. She is now two and cancer free but their family life was altered so dramatically. Living through Covid has shown us all how something you have no control of can change the way you go about your daily life, your social networks, your relationships and gave me a glimpse of how children with cancer and their families live. And that is why I think this year more than ever I would like to ask you to help me to support Camp Ooch, so that these children can just be kids and experience a stress free, fun camp environment. Even with Covid restrictions this camp is still reaching out to these kids in their isolation and creating a wonderful space to just be carefree ...joyful..understood.

A diagnosis of childhood cancer changes life in an instant.
For affected kids and families, it can suddenly feel like everything is about cancer. Camp Ooch offers a hopeful journey, where kids with cancer can just be kids, and families connect with a community of strength and support when they need it the most.
They are much more than a summer camp—they offer the social cure for childhood cancer. Their camp-inspired programs deliver fun, friendship, and community to 1,900 kids and 745 families year-round, all across Ontario. As a response to COVID-19, virtual camp and in-hospital programs continue to reach kids and families living in isolation, wherever they are.
