Our story…
We are teaming up to run in the Cleveland Virtual Marathon to fundraise for the Concussion Legacy Foundation (CLF). CLF is leading the fight against concussions and CTE, and we are proud to support their programs that are leading us to world without CTE and concussion safety without compromise. If you’d like to learn more, here is their annual report and the founder’s TED Talk and a Malcolm Gladwell podcast about their impact.
Each of our team members will be running a 5K, competing in some friendly competition against Harvard, Yale, Brown, Princeton, Dartmouth, Army, Notre Dame, Michigan and other schools to see who can raise the most funds. The losing captains will be forced to film themselves singing the winner’s fight song and CLF will post it to their social media accounts. Please help us avoid that fate by making a donation to one of our team members.
A note from Cornell Team Captain Lisa McHale:
May 25th will mark 13 years without my husband, Tom McHale. I suspect that May will always be a challenging month; but during the weekend of May 15 and 16, I will be gathering with family, friends and Cornell teammates of Tom, to celebrate the progress that the Concussion Legacy Foundation has achieved over the last 13 years in changing the way the world understands and talks about sports related head trauma.
We are forming a team to run in memory of Tom, Leo Reherman, and Dave VanMetre, all teammates on Cornell’s 1985 squad, and all of whom were lost far too young. All proceeds will benefit the Concussion Legacy Foundation in our effort to create a world without CTE and concussion safety without compromise.
