I was first diagnosed with epilepsy when I was 15. Quite uncommon in small town Sask. back in the 70's (wow that's a long time ago). My Mom was terrified at the time and even to this day it still worries her. I still consider myself fortunate in a journey filled with ignorance and stigma that remains to this day. I moved to Calgary 25 years ago and was referred to Foothills Epilepsy clinic. Dr. Federico was my first specialist and still is today. Under his expert care I have now been seizure free for over 12 years. As a way to pay back some of my good fortune I joined the EAC board 7 years ago and have served as both a Director and Chair. The future is bright for the EAC with the current Board's focus on improving programming and growing our relationship with all Epilepsy Clinics and the Hotchkiss Brain Institute https://hbi.ucalgary.ca/ Please support me so we can assist our clinics and continue growing these strategic relationships
