My Story…
My son Kiran was diagnosed with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) in Oct 2017 at 20 months old. It's a chronic condition with no cure. He received steroid injections in his joints in Nov 2017. We're SO lucky to say he’s had no symptoms ever since!
When I first learned about JIA, we heard stories of kids who received joint injections when they were young, and then had no problems until around kindergarten. Kiran starts school this week, so we are hoping to avoid the same fate. Every year without symptoms improves his odds. He is doing great, and is learning to ride a bike.
We discovered Cassie and Friends, a charity that helps kids with juvenile arthritis. We’ve now attended 3 of their incredible Family Day events. Rheumatologists gave talks on various treatments, and you meet other families in the same boat. They done a lot of virtual information seminars through the pandemic. Every dollar raised goes directly to helping out kids with JIA and other rheumatic diseases.
