Run Calgary is a community that cares deeply about health, wellness and longevity and as such, we will act in accordance with provincial health recommendations as well as the new City of Calgary bylaw. Read more about these changes HERE.
The Wild Run, formerly the 'Gorilla Run', now in its 17th year, was established in 2004 to raise funds for Mountain Gorillas and other endangered species.
Over the last 14 years the race/relay has donated over $100,000 dollars to wild animals threatened with extinction and Run Calgary is pledging to continue our fundraising efforts for conservation.

Race in-person
Sunday October 10, 2021 - In-Person
Please join us, as we run in and around the zoo on Sunday October 10th, 2021 at 8am, for the annual ‘Race For Conservation’! You can choose to run the 10 mile course solo, or round up your crew and race the course as a relay (2-4 members). The in-person event starts and finishes on St. Patrick Island and consists of 4 legs, all of which transition on The Rise, our very own party site for The Wild Run. Only 1 leg runs through the zoo but all participants have access to the zoo with your registration.
Race virtually
October 7-10, 2021 - Virtual
Run your 10 mile race solo, or create a relay team and try our Race Roster's new virtual relay experience. As always, your virtual event can take place on any surface, anywhere, and at any time during the virtual race window.
We encourage virtual racers to track their run using RunKeeper, where your results will automatically sync with your Race Roster account and right onto the Results Leaderboard. Alternatively, you can choose to screen capture (not mandatory) any fitness app or watch (Garmin, Strava, Fitbit etc.) and manually upload you time. All registered participants will receive detailed instructions for completing their virtual race prior to the start of the race period

GST & Processing Fees
Please note that each participant will be charged a processing fee plus 5% GST tax in addition to the race entry fee.
Refund Policy
- Entry fees are non-refundable. No exceptions.
- No race day registration or race changes. No refunds, transfers, medical comps or deferrals.
- Run Calgary has partnered with RegShield and you can purchase a protection policy on your registration if you have to cancel or can't make the event. RegShield is a protection product made for athletes by athletes. It provides coverage for 17 different roadblocks. These are the reasons that most athletes are unable to compete in their events. - Should the race not be able to go ahead because of local and provincial restrictions due to the pandemic or for any other reason, all registrants will automatically be converted into a virtual event
