My Story…

I am running the Falmouth Road Race to raise money for the ALS Association (ALSA). I have seen firsthand the course that this awful disease takes. It is a terminal disease that progresses very quickly starting with losing use of the hands and feet and working its way toward the organs in the center of the body, usually resulting in respiratory failure.

As an occupational therapist, I have worked with patients to remain in their homes with use of modifications and often times expensive adaptive equipment. ALSA has been a tremendous resource that I have utilized in helping these patients access the services and providing them with the equipment they desperately need. Any equipment that I have recommended, they have bent over backwards to provide. The staff is positive and easy to work with. They also help fund research for treatment and better understanding of the etiology of the disease, and are involved in lobbying for disability laws and awareness. They serve a vital role, and I am proud to participate in obtaining valuable funding in treatment and understanding of ALS.

Please help me reach my fundraising goal with donations of any size, the link is below. This organization is truly dedicated to its cause and deserves our support, as do the wonderful humans that are afflicted with this deadly disease.
