Help Hatherly raise money

Dearest friends, family and colleagues, 

In 2016 my world was turned upside down when I was diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer. A month after my 25th birthday, I had a total thyroidectomy and lateral neck dissection to remove not only the thyroid gland but several infected lymph nodes. After receiving radio-active idodine treatment a few months later, I was confident that this life-changing experience was behind me. After a few years of taking thyroid medication regularly and going in for routine ultrasounds, it was in the year 2019 that I found out my cancer had returned. 

I immediately sought out a second opinion (a lesson I learned from a dear friend) and ultimately chose to get my care at Brigham and Women's. I am running my first Falmouth Road Race on August 15th to support Dr. Gerard Doherty, Surgeon-in-Chief for Brigham and Women's Hospital and Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Dr. Doherty changed my life and I'm so thankful for him and for his team at BWH for their hard work and care to ensure that I would be cancer free, healthy and well with no signs of recurrence moving forward.  

With the help of Dr. Doherty, I underwent a second surgery in October of 2019, removing the infected and suspicious tissue and lymph nodes. Thanks to this incredible physician I am healthy, thriving, and heading into my 30th year with no cancer in my body and healthy TSH levels.
