Our Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cape Cod & the Islands community suffered a loss of a bright spirit in January. Jaylynn was a Little in our program and this summer would have marked her 10-year anniversary of being matched with her Big, Beth. Little Sister Jaylynn passed away at 19 years old. 

Beth and Jaylynn embodied our work and were a beautiful representation of how strong and resilient our matches are. One of their first outings together was to volunteer at a water stop at the Falmouth Road Race and committed to that every year until 2020 when the event became virtual due to the pandemic. 

Working at BBBS for the past 7 years and being a Big Sister for the past 6 years (my photo is my Little Jailyn + I in 2017), I can speak to the power of mentoring. Not just for the mentee, but the mentor, both of their families and the community.
