My Story…
After taking 2020 off (Covid’s decision, not mine), I am excited to once again run the Falmouth Road Race this August! I will be running for the Shawn Thornton Foundation which promotes research and advocacy for Parkinson’s Disease.
As many know, my dad (Gerry McD.) was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2019. While there are meds to aide in symptom control, Parkinson’s Disease is a progressive disease and currently has no cure.
What makes the 2021 Falmouth Road Race even more special is that it falls on August 15th, my Dad’s 70th birthday, and if you know him - you know he LOVES the Cape.
Having worked as a nurse for over 10 years now, I have seen the unfortunate effects of late- stage Parkinson’s Disease and while it’s hard not to think of this, I would rather spend energy on raising money towards research for a cure.
This past year has been hard on everyone, so please know sending me good vibes for cool / non-humid morning for a 7 mile run & wishing my Dad a Happy Birthday come August 15th would mean just as much!!
Thank you in advance for helping to PUNCH OUT PARKINSON’S!
With Love & Appreciation,
Lindsey (& family)
