My Story…
After a courageous and long fought battle, Grammie Janice, passed away from lung and brain cancer, in the comfort of her home according to her wishes on Tuesday, January 12th. She was full of life, spunk and sass. I have decided to run the in-person Falmouth Road Race this year on August 15th, almost exactly 7 months after her passing in her memory.
I hope you will consider supporting me as I raise funds to support the Brain Tumor Research Fund at Brigham and Women's Hospital, in hopes that no family sees a loved one suffer there final days. I will run the 7 mile course miles with the best guardian angel and cheerleader out there. I love you to the moon and back, Grammie.
Thank you for your love and support, no matter how big or small.
With love,
Ali

Grammie graduated from Millbury High School in 1959 where she was Captain of multiple sports teams including softball, field hockey, and basketball. In her younger days, she worked at the Flying Saucer and Town Line Restaurants. She participated and won many beauty pageants however, the opportunity to continue along this path was short lived when she decided at age 19 to marry and begin her family. When my mom and uncle were growing-up she was an active Girl Scout leader and Cub Scout den mother, all while working full time as an administrative assistant for various businesses including Atlas Van Lines, Linders Auto and UMass-Group Practice. She was a caring wife, wonderful mother, loving grandmother, and loyal friend.
Grammie truly enjoyed time spent by the water especially on Cape Cod and Old Orchard Beache, Aruba, and along the banks of rivers in the White Mountains. She enjoyed going to the casino “for lunch” with a “little” gambling. She was a collector, tea drinker, had a sweet tooth and loved afternoons on her sunporch sitting next to Jack reading the newspaper, coupon clipping or doing a word search. She was a proud member of Emanuel Lutheran Church and the Millbury Historical Society.
Grammie was a dotting and loving grandmother to Zack and I, She sat front seat to all of our activities including school and sporting events, sometimes arriving hours early to have the best view. She could be heard throughout the stands and had no problem being vocal with her opinions to referees or coaches. No matter the location, she always was present, regardless of how she was feeling from chemo, radiation or infusion therapy.
