My Story…
Beat Childhood Cancer was founded, and is still run, by parents of kids with cancer. As many of you know, I've been a supporter of and fundraiser for Beat NB since our friend Patrick Lacey created the organization to find and fund treatment options for his son Will. As a result, Will is alive today and getting ready to begin his senior year in high school. Those of you that have been supporting my fundraising efforts over the years might remember that, at two years old, Will was deemed untreatable. His doctors told the Lacey family to enjoy the remaining time they had left with their son. Thankfully Beat NB was able to prove those doctors wrong.
Beat NB has now joined with a number of other family run non-profits to create Beat Childhood Cancer, a much stronger force. Since 2010 they've collectively been developing and expanding a precision strategy to bring precision medicine to kids, while actively creating new treatment options for kids battling cancer.
What they're doing is working! This group has opened 19 clinical trials, directly affecting more than 1,000 kids. Where the traditional clinical trial model often takes several years to start enrolling patients, the Beat Childhood Cancer Research Consortium (made up of nearly 50 children's hospitals and research institutions in North America) usually enrolls children on clinical trials within one year.
Please help me keep this amazing work going! Your donations can literally keep children alive!
