My Story…
2021 marks my family's 6th year of supporting MoD through the Falmouth RoadRace, coming out of the pandemic this feels like a completely new start! The last few years I have elected to forgo a fundraising goal as we are looking for any heartfelt donation. Your contribution will help to support the fight for preemie awareness and key medical advancements!
Kinley was labeled a ’26-weeker’; the odds were not in her favor being born nearly a full trimester early. As a child born premature, she had to battle through countless ups and downs; yet as we left UMass, 72 days after she was born, the doctor’s reassured us ‘you’ve won the preemie lottery’-we were one of the lucky ones. Not every baby in that exact same situation is as fortunate. Many have heard the details of our story, which is why not losing sight of how to support preemie awareness and the charitable work of the March of Dimes has become so paramount to our family. Hard to imagine a 2 pound baby now entering 1st grade!
At a recent March of Dimes event, the following visual was shared when trying to comprehend how small preemies can be, the next time you take a dollar bill from your pocket, fold it in half once, then hold it in your palm- that’s roughly the size of a diaper for newborn preemies. One in ten babies are born premature, we humbly ask your support with this year’s campaign for the March of Dimes!
