Hi! Thank you for coming to my fundraising page :) 

This year I will be running the Falmouth Road Race for ALS ONE. If you are not familiar with this organization, it was founded in 2015 by my friend's father, Kevin Gosnell, who was determined to spread awareness about amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in order to improve research efforts towards working for a cure, following his own diagnosis. 

ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, is a motor neuron disease. ALS is a gradually progressive neurodegenerative disease affecting both upper and lower motor neurons. In patients with ALS, the nerve cells in their brain and spinal cord progressively die and are replaced with scar tissue - eventually leading to respiratory failure and death. At this time, there is no cure for this tragic disorder and it is incredibly hard to diagnose. This is largely due to the fact that ALS research has been very underfunded historically. 

Mr. Gosnell lost his battle in 2016, but his organization has had a tremendous and lasting impact on improving ALS treatments through innovation and research.
