My Story…
I'm participating in the Virtual Pittsburgh Marathon to celebrate the life of my sister and to put an end to Alzheimer's Disease. My family is affected by a very rare form of Alzheimer's Disease. It's a dominantly inherited gene mutation, that has taken our family members way too early. It's also known as early-onset Alzheimer's disease, which causes individuals to show signs of dementia before the age of 60, and develop Alzheimer's Disease way too young. In our family it hits much earlier. I participate just about every year in memory of my sister Mindy, my father, uncles, grandfather and great-grandmother. All of whom lost their lives in their 40s and 50s.
Our family is also involved in research studies with the University of Pittsburgh's Alzheimer's Disease Research Center. The Alzheimer's Association contributes a large amount of funds to these research studies. I have seen first hand that your money will not be wasted.
No one should leave this world without their memories. Thank you for your donations!
